The Healing Energetics of Flowers

The Healing Energetics of Flowers

I am fascinated by the ways in which flowers transfix, bewitch, uplift, and enthrall us. I have never once bought flowers myself or given a floral arrangement I've created to someone else and not experienced that gasp of delight and the brightening of a smile that they bring. That's why we do this.

As you know, I'm also fascinated with how a healthy body and mind contribute to our best creative work, our most easeful successes in business, and our greatest sense of fulfillment in life, not just day to day but in the bigger picture year over year.

The truth is, flowers have frequencies — energy we can feel immediately in their presence, energy that meets our own and, like music, flows into us. We are changed, and for the better, in the presence of flowers. We deepen that positive transformation as we touch and work with flowers creatively. Flowers delight us and lift our moods, and they also neurologically soothe and harmonize our physical bodies too.

FLOWERS AND THE MIND-BODY CONNECTION

The seven energy centers of the body, known as the chakras, spin at specific frequencies that correspond with specific wavelengths of color, each chakra representing a different set of energetic qualities of the mind and body that color our experiences and connect us to all of life.

Flowers, with their shapes, fragrances, and colors also reflect and support that vital living energy. The frequencies and impulses of our nervous system flow energetically throughout the body, crossing over and flowing through the chakra energy centers, just as our breath, blood, and digestion move vital resources in and out to nourish and cultivate our health.

A BRIEF QUIDE TO THE 7 CHAKRAS OF THE BODY:

  • ROOT CHAKRA (Muladhara) — located at the base of the spine, associated with our sense of security and groundedness, and spinning at the frequency of the color red.

  • SACRAL CHAKRA (Svadisthana) — located in the lower abdomen, associated with our faculties of creativity and fertility, and spinning at the frequency of the color orange.

  • SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA (Manipura) — located in the diaphragm, associated with our sense of self confidence and will-power, and spinning at the frequency of the color yellow.

  • HEART CHAKRA (Anahata) — located at our heart center, associated with our sense of love and compassion, and spinning at the frequency of the color green.

  • THROAT CHAKRA (Vishuddha) — located in the throat and voice box, associated with our ability to express ourselves and speak our truth, and spinning at the frequency of the color blue.

  • THIRD EYE CHAKRA (Ajna) — located in the center of the forehead between the eyebrows, associated with our intuition and imagination, and spinning at the frequency of the color indigo.

  • CROWN CHAKRA (Sahasrara) — located at the crown of the head, associated with our higher consciousness and spiritual connection, and spinning at the frequency of the color violet or white.

FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS BY COLOR FOR EACH CHAKRA

With this framework, we can start to see and feel the relationship between the colors of flowers and the energy centers of our own bodies. Since color is essentially an energetic frequency expressed by specific lengths of electromagnetic waves, the colors that flowers carry and reflect also contain and support those energies. It's part of what you feel around flowers, even if you never knew anything about color frequencies or the chakras of the body. The connection is already there.

  • RED (crimson, ruby, corals, and rosy tones)
    • stability, groundedness, warmth, reliability, power, safety, energy

  • ORANGE — tangerine, turmeric, and cantelope tones
    • creativity, fertility, the ability to bring ideas into the world, warmth, curiosity, generative energy

  • YELLOW — lemon, cream, mustard, & gold tones
    • confidence, radiance, friendliness, joy, expansion, motivation

  • GREEN — emerald, jade, chartreuse, and sage tones
    • compassion, love, connection, empathy, abundance

  • BLUE — sky, cobalt, ocean, denim, and navy tones
    • truth, clarity, self-expression, freedom, honesty, loveliness

  • INDIGO — deeper royal blue, navy, and verging on purple tones
    • perception, intuition, imagination, possibility, expansion

  • VIOLET — amethyst, lavender, and ligher purple tones) —
    • spirituality, higher consciousness, connection, perspective, integration, regality

THE METAPHORIC WISDOM OF FLOWERS

Flowers also carry powerful wisdom in the ways they grow, bloom, fade, and regenerate, and their behavior provides metaphoric messages and mirrors into our own cycles and inner wisdom. In addition to the energy of their colors, each flower's shape and gesture, season and specific details are laden with metaphoric messages that fill us with wonder and also invite us to see what is inside ourselves as we are transfixed by their beauty. Sometimes we just need to take a moment to look into that mirror.

This awareness of the powerful energetics of flowers — which I have experienced ever since I was a child cutting out flower images from my parents' seed catalogues to paste in my journal during the long winters on our midwestern farm, all the way through the years since I started my floral design studio and floristry workshops — is what called me to create Tarot of Flowers. I wanted to collect that wisdom and to foster a space for others to find that mirror into the insights we seek on our journeys into expansion and alignment.

I can’t even begin to tell you the profound connections, revelations, and endearing experiences I’ve seen unfold through the Tarot of Flowers cards chosen during readings — my dream to bring all these years of experience in the multi-sensory and multi-layered language of flowers into the timeless wisdom of Tarot works! This deck captured a kind of connective potential that time and time again floors me, and seems to do the same with everyone whose cards we read.

When in doubt, ask the flowers. Flowers are the ultimate expression of hope, a benevolently accessible aspect of Nature that offers open paths and passages into our deep Inner Knowing. From awareness, we find support, guidance, and the courage to make shifts and step into our shared greatness….

Order your Tarot of Flowers deck today, and open a portal into daily wisdom and guidance in the sensory language of flowers. I can’t wait for you to have this beautiful ever-blooming experience in your world. They make incredible gifts too for people you love who are flower-lovers and seekers like us too.

Most of all, my wish is that day to day, moment to moment, you will find more reasons to take space for reflective and meditative rituals with flowers. There is a reason we bring them to our most celebrated milestones and moments in life, as well as why we bring them into our homes and gardens and feel so uplifted and pleased in their company. They have much to say to us, in their quiet, colorful language, and all we have to do is look and listen.

Sending you love and encouragement for your infinite potential,
