Mentorships are one of my favorite experiences to offer because they are so personal and immersive — each of these private workshops is tailored to my student designer, their specific questions and goals, where they are on their floral journey, and where they want to go.
In a mentorship, you get full access to me, to my studio, and to all of the holistic strategy and design experiences one-on-one with me. I find that my mentees often become friends for life — it's a deep connection, and the support you get begins the minute you book and goes well beyond our day together.
I recently reached out to Bobbi of Freebird Florals, one of my former mentees and now a dear friend, to check in and see if she wouldn't mind sharing about her experience in the mentorship. Below is her interview with her answers, alongside a few select images from her private workshop, which was tailored to her vision of creating a foam-free installation like a meadow of flowers, here in the studio with me.
1. How was your mentorship with Jen in the Nectar & Bloom Studio?
"My mentorship experience working 1:1 with Jen in the Nectar & Bloom studio was more than I could have imagined. With a pre-meeting call we set an intention for how to spend our time together. Jen took the time to ask thoughtful questions to help me clarify my vision for what I wanted to get out of the mentorship experience. She then curated an in-studio experience that was unique and personal to me. Our time spent together helped me identify how to grow and evolve my floral business. And then we collaborated in designing the most exquisite foam free floral meadow installation that was reflective of my personal style."
2. How did this experience contribute to or support your growth?
"By helping me identify my personal style and goals in my floristry practice. I learned new floristry techniques as well."
3. What did you take with you, and where does it show up for you now in your creative work?
"Jen is such an inspiration! She is a natural leader and guides others with her ease, grace and exquisite talent and knowledge as a floral designer."
4. What was the most meaningful part of your experience?
"I came away with a clearer sense of my personal journey forward in the world of flowers as well as a very special friend."
5. Anything else you'd like to add?
"If you have the chance to join Jen for a 1:1 personally crafted unforgettable flower experience do it!!"
